Bee
By Taylor Leyn of Got Talk?
Bees and there wacky Disease! I'm sure you have heard something about the bees disappearing by now rather you watched Jerry Seinfeld s' The Bee Movie, Heard about it from a friend or saw it in on the news. The bees are disappearing and even though theirs theories no one seems to know exactly what it is yet! I have watched different reports and read different articles about their mysterious disappearance so I would like to share what I know and for whoever reads this to tell me what they think and to correct me if I have mistaken, which I very well could. So with that being said, from my knowledge bees pollinate a good third of all are produce and If I'm not mistaking are responsible for 50% or more of all the flowers and plants that need to be pollinated. It seems theirs been all kinds of theories from climate change and environmental stress, to ccd disorder I think colony colapse disorder which to me sounds like a modern human illness we know as Alzheimer s, the bees go on there normal routine to collect honey and then simply can't remember how to get back to there hive. Unfortunately for us when comes to pollinating plants we are no where close to being as busy as the bees. In parts of China where the bees have already disappeared china farmers pollinate their pear trees, or what ever by hand. Only getting to about 30 a day on average which is a lot, but not going to be near enough to save us. Its my understanding that if the bees where to die off completely, which is possible if they keep disappearing like they are, then it is estimated that we will go with them in as soon as four years. The reason being once they die, the plants all die, eventually nothing green is left, and of course all the cows and animals we eat can't survive off of dirt and rocks so then they would die and eventually us. Which I don't like to believe would happen I imagine we would find a way to live off of some kind of synthetic food, but how should I know I'm only 17. Either way it will be sad if we die because of bees and not something more along the lines of a nuclear bomb. Also if you didn't know on a complete opposite note I believe I remember reading about scientist in Queensland where ever that is spending a bunch of money to researching bee brains, if you didn't know it they might be small, but the grey matter in their tiny brains is very similar to ares if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps thats why they can communicate through dance. -Taylor |
